Peter Alan Fox was the Member of the Senedd for the Monmouth constituency, who previously led Monmouthshire County Council from 2008 to 2021. In June 2021, Peter was appointed at the Shadow Minister for Finance.

Peter’s background is in farming, where his family were originally dairy farmers who later moved to a farm in Carmarthenshire in the 1970s and latterly to Penalt, Monmouthshire in 1981.

After being educated at Ystrad Tywi Secondary School in Carmarthen, Peter went on to Carmarthen Agricultural & Technical College.

Peter first entered politics in 1997 when he was elected the Conservative county councillor for the Portskewett electoral ward and was subsequently re-elected in 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2017.

After setting up a successful farming business, Peter hosted International farm visits from Romania and the People's Republic of China.

To date, one of Peter’s biggest achievements was in 2016 where he played an instrumental role in negotiating and securing the £1.3 Billion Capital Region City Deal - the biggest City Deal in the U.K. He was subsequently made Vice Chairman of the Cardiff Capital Region Joint Cabinet holding the Portfolio for Business and Innovation. In the 2017 Peter was awarded an OBE for his services to the Cardiff Capital Region.

In his spare time, Peter runs a farm in Portskewett in the south of Monmouthshire where he lives with his wife, Jo.
