Craig was born and bred in Montgomeryshire and grew up in Welshpool, Mid Wales, where he studied at Welshpool High School. He now lives in Llanfair Caereinion with his wife and two children.
Prior to his Parliamentary career, Craig held various positions in local government, the Welsh Assembly and the UK Government. He also served as a non-executive director of one of the largest bus companies in Wales, operated his own consultancy and was director of a think tank.
Craig was elected Member of Parliament for Montgomeryshire at the General Election in December 2019. He was previously a Member of Parliament from 2015 to 2017. Craig has worked as a Special Adviser to the Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union. Craig now sits on the International Trade Committee, and the European Statutory Instruments Committee. He joined the Government in March 2020 as Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Chief Secretary of the Treasury.
