Mohammad Asghar AM – the Shadow Minister for Faith – has offered his best wishes to Muslims throughout Wales and the world before Ramadan begins this evening (April 23).
Mr Asghar said:
“As Christians marking Easter and Jews celebrating Passover have had to do in April, Muslims will be commemorating the holy month of Ramadan in a very different way this year.
“It is not what people are used to, but we all now that it is crucial to maintain social distancing at all times if we are to defeat the scourge of Coronavirus.
“Many people have died, and sadly it is likely that many more will also pass away before Coronavirus is defeated.
“So, I ask everyone to maintain the social distancing rules in the sincere hope that we beat this pandemic, and can return to life as normal as soon as possible.
“I would encourage all Imams to make use of social media, such as Facebook Live and Instagram Live, to live stream their sermons so they can continue to engage with the Muslim community during this difficult time.”
“Finally, to all Muslims in Wales and beyond, may I wish you Ramadan Mubarak.”
