Commenting on the news that a Healthcare Inspectorate Wales report found “consistent challenges” caused by poor patient flow through wards, Welsh Conservative Shadow Health Minister, Russell George MS said:
“Wales is a unique outlier, with heightened ambulance and A&E waits compared with the rest of the UK and two-year waits still a feature of our Labour-run health service despite promises to eliminate them as they have been elsewhere.
“Recruitment and retention, a lack of boots on the ground is the key issue and with the prospect of strikes looming over our Welsh NHS thanks to Labour offering the worst pay deal in the UK for doctors, the situation is set to worsen before it improves.
“Our Welsh NHS is the number one priority for Welsh Conservatives, while Labour is cutting health. We would reprioritise funding away from Labour’s vanity projects like more politicians and blanket 20mph zones, toward our health service and healthcare professionals.”
