Commenting, Welsh Conservative Shadow Health Minister Russell George MS said:
“Whilst it would be better for patients and the NHS itself if people were to eat healthier and be more active, it is disingenuous for Labour to suggest that they are to blame for needing to use the health service taxpayers fund.
“Suppressed demand during the pandemic was always going to lead to a surge in demand, which is why it was so shocking that Labour’s health minister at the time said it would be “foolish” to publish a recovery plan while the pandemic was on-going.
“This is exactly why Labour have been so wrong to ignore our GP Access Plan, NHS Tech Bundle, winter war rooms, and surgical hubs proposals which would have arrested so much of this decline.
“No wonder that, under Labour, Wales is now experiencing Britain’s worst A&E waits, the slowest ambulance response times on record, and waiting lists where 55,000 people are waiting over two years for treatment.”
