Following Welsh Conservative calls for a special purpose committee in the Welsh Parliament to be created to look at the actions of the Welsh Government and other Welsh public bodies during the Covid-19 pandemic, the Co-chairs and Committee Members have been appointed today.
The new Co-Chair of the Committee, Tom Giffard MS, said:
“The Welsh Conservatives have long called for an independent Covid-19 inquiry for Wales, holding the Welsh Government to account over their policies during the pandemic.
“We know that this new committee is a half-way house, but we can’t let good be the enemy of perfect.
“I’m confident that by exploring Welsh factors that can’t be covered by the UK Covid-19 Inquiry, we can work towards getting the answers that family and friends of those who lost their lives during the pandemic deserve.”
