During Spokesperson’s Questions to Labour’s Cabinet Secretary for Transport and North Wales, the Welsh Conservatives criticised the disruption and repeated delays to repairs on the Menai Bridge.

Welsh Conservative Shadow Cabinet Secretary for North Wales, Gareth Davies MS, warned that the prolonged works are damaging the economy and tourism sector on Ynys Môn, and reiterated his party’s commitment to delivering a third Menai Crossing to secure the long-term future of the region.

Commenting, Welsh Conservative Shadow Cabinet Secretary for North Wales, Gareth Davies MS, said:

“Repairs to the Menai Bridge have now dragged on for more than three years and have been extended yet again, this time until 2027.

“This year marks the 200th anniversary of this iconic structure, a symbol of the world-leading engineering Wales was once known for. Yet today, we seem incapable of completing essential repairs without years of disruption.

“The Welsh Conservatives will undo the damage caused by Plaid and Labour’s delays by delivering a third Menai Crossing, safeguarding the economy of Ynys Môn and strengthening connectivity across North Wales.”
