In the Siambr, Education Minister Jeremy Miles failed to offer a solution to BTEC qualifications which are being phased out.
The Labour Government haven’t put in place a long-term plan for vocational learning qualifications, meaning educators are in the dark about what the future will hold.
In England, the UK Government are funding T-Levels (Technical Levels) which are intended to be equivalent to three A-Levels, or up to 3 BTECs, and they will include at least 45 days of work placement.
Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Education, Laura Anne Jones MS, said:
“Vocational education is so important for young people in Wales.
“Labour Ministers really need to lay out a long-term plan for vocational education or risk our young people falling further behind.
“Further Education colleges are already trying to fill the void with their own qualifications. This failure to plan ahead is becoming a common theme for this Labour Government, and we desperately need to see some concrete solutions.”
