Following reports of overcrowded buses, traffic chaos and children left struggling to get to school in Rhondda Cynon Taf, the Welsh Conservatives have condemned Labour’s school transport cuts and called for an urgent review to protect pupils and families from further pandemonium.

Commenting, Welsh Conservative Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Education, Natasha Asghar MS, said:

“With the school term beginning for youngsters across Wales many parents have voiced their frustration at these school transport cuts, with real concerns about their children’s ability to get to and from school safely.

“This chaos was entirely predictable, yet the Labour-run council pressed ahead with its plans regardless.

“With absenteeism already a huge issue across schools in Wales, this ill-informed decision will only make the problem worse and I will be keen to know what exactly the Welsh Government alongside the council plan to do about it.”
