Responding to a column in The National by Plaid Cymru’s economy spokesperson, Luke Fletcher, on imposing a tourist tax, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Tourism, Tom Giffard, said:
“Despite what Plaid Cymru’s economy spokesperson says, a tourism tax in Wales will be devastating for many businesses up and down the country and will put jobs at risk.
“We need to be focusing on helping our tourism industry bounce back after the pandemic and encouraging people to visit Wales, not penalising them.
“The First Minister and his Labour colleagues in Cardiff Bay need to get their priorities right and nip Plaid’s talk of tax in the bud by publicly confirming they have no plans to introduce it.”
