The Welsh Conservatives today have once again called for a Welsh Office for Environmental Protection now that we’ve left the European Union.
Labour Minister Julie James today slammed the British Government in the chamber for supposedly rolling back environmental protections whilst failing to address the alarming environmental governance gap emerging in Wales.
The Welsh Conservatives have called for the Labour Government in Cardiff Bay to step up to the plate and follow in the footsteps of the British Government in Westminster.
Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for the Climate Change, Janet Finch Saunders MS said:
“Labour ministers have had ample opportunities to announce the introduction of an Office for Environmental Protection, yet all we’ve seen is inaction and a failure to match the protections being offered by the British Government.
“It is clear that the Labour Government has kept long-term arrangements for environmental governance on the back burner. As it currently stands, Wales has squandered the chance to be a world leader in green protections.
“It’s high time the Welsh Government stopped all the dither and delay and actually pulled together a plan that bridges the concerning environmental governance gap we currently see.”
