The Welsh Conservatives have criticised the Welsh Government’s decision to prioritise a formal meeting with pro-independence campaign group Yes Cymru, arguing that Welsh ministers should be focused on improving public services and growing the economy.
Darren Millar MS, Leader of the Welsh Conservatives, said:
"Wales has the longest NHS waiting lists in Britain, the worst education standards in the UK and an economy that continues to lag behind the rest of the United Kingdom.
"Welsh Government Ministers should be focused on these issues, rather than prioritising meeting Yes Cymru, an organisation that has included people who have expressed support for terrorist organisations at their events and whose activists illegally fly-post stickers on public infrastructure.
"There is no mandate to waste taxpayers’ money pursuing Welsh independence."
