A report published today by the National Assembly’s Health, Social Care and Sport Committee claims that Welsh NHS dentists are being discouraged from working in more deprived areas across Wales because of current contract arrangements.
Commenting on the news, Acting Welsh Conservative Health spokesperson, Darren Millar AM, said:
“The report provides yet further evidence that patients are being let down by Welsh Labour Health Ministers who have failed to plan for the workforce needs of the Welsh NHS.
“We need rapid action to improve the dental contract in Wales and to provide incentives for people to come to train and work here, particularly in areas like North Wales where shortages seem to be the most acute.
“The current arrangements clearly aren’t working and Labour Ministers must work harder to address this problem.”
