Speaking ahead of a Welsh Conservative debate on palliative and end of life care in the Senedd on Wednesday, Welsh Conservative Shadow Social Justice Minister, Mark Isherwood MS, who Chairs the Cross-Party Group on Hospice and Palliative Care in the Senedd, said:
“Most of us will know of someone who has needed palliative care, an issue that will impact all of us at some point in our lives. Dignity and respect for people during their end of life care must be the utmost priority for us as politicians when discussing this issue.
“Our health and social care services in Wales will need a plan in place to cope with the forecasted doubling in demand for palliative care. We do not want to see a situation, as in the pandemic, wherein people faced difficulties.
“I am proud of the work we have done in the Cross-Party Group on Hospice and Palliative Care, along with our extensive report and insightful meetings with stakeholders. I hope that our motion, on such a vital issue, will receive cross party support.”
