The Welsh Conservatives have called on Plaid Cymru ministers to coordinate with police and UK counterparts to tackle rural crime in Wales, following figures showing worrying increases in the theft of farming equipment and livestock.
Commenting, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Farming and the Environment, Andrew RT Davies MS said:
“Farmers across Wales are facing immense pressures from rising costs and uncertain markets, alongside the added burden of rural crime, which is placing real strain on family farms and rural businesses.
“Rural crime continues to have a serious impact on farming communities, with victims often isolated and too easily overlooked despite the significant financial and emotional toll.
“Plaid Cymru separatists must do more to work with local authorities, police and UK counterparts to strengthen coordination, improve enforcement and deliver a clear strategy to tackle rural crime and better protect rural communities across Wales.”
