Commenting on the announcement today (May 4) on support for the university sector during the Covid-19 pandemic, Suzy Davies AM – the Shadow Minister for Education – said:
“It is essential that the Welsh Government must use 100 percent of the consequentials it will receive from HM Treasury, and it is equally vital that it works with the UK Government – and those of the other devolved nations – to support the university sector. The provision by UK Government for temporary caps and the confidence shown for research are especially welcome
“The scale of the pandemic and its impact is such that the devolved governments and the UK Government must take a four-nation approach to supporting this vital sector, because our students will be feeling anxious at this uncertain time, and require stability and reassurance now more than ever.”
