Today marks 24 Hours in Farming, agriculture’s biggest online event, which is back for its seventh year.

The event – from 5am Thursday to 5am Friday – showcases the typical daily life of farmers, explains the process and role of British food production, and shows how agricultural workers look after the countryside.

Following last year's campaign reached more than 28m people, and those working in the agricultural industry are being asked to throw their support behind the campaign and show how proud they are of working in one of the most important industries to the UK and beyond.

Commenting, Welsh Conservative and Shadow Rural Affairs Minister Samuel Kurtz MS said:

“As a farmer’s son, I understand the important role agriculture play in our society as food producers, land custodians, and cultural drivers, so I’m delighted #Farm24 is back to celebrate British farming.

“Farming has long been the backbone of the Welsh economy and is the exporter of some quality product but as we celebrate agriculture in this country, we need to remember the role we play.

“There is a duty on us to buy British as often as we can to support our local economies and culture – if we do not then it will be all the harder the overcome the challenges that pose our farmers.

“I have always said that farming needs a friend and my Party will always be that.”
