Commenting on the First Minister’s lockdown review statement, Welsh Conservative Senedd leader, Andrew RT Davies MS said:
“I welcome aspects of today’s announcement by the First Minister, particularly the return of more children to the classroom, which is a priority for us all.
“However, I do regret the lack of additional financial support and a roadmap to recovery for businesses across Wales who are frantically trying to plan their survival.
“I acknowledge specific dates would not be possible but windows of opportunity could’ve been provided for firms who need to prepare both financially and logistically.
“The Welsh Government should use the next review period to provide such detail and confirm that the business rates holiday will be extended into next year for the retail, hospitality, tourism and leisure sectors.
“Given the importance of exercise to physical and mental well-being, I’m pleased meeting numbers outside for this purpose have been increased, but more could still be done in this area, particularly with regards to kids activity and gyms.
“This is a difficult balancing act for governments and politicians of all colours, but with the roaring success of the British vaccination programme, it’s important we provide hope and a roadmap forward for the Welsh public.”
