The Leader of the Welsh Conservatives, Darren Millar MS, will participate in a series of events this week to mark the 80th Anniversary of VE Day and pay tribute to those who secured the freedoms we enjoy today.

  • This evening, Mr. Millar will attend a VE Day Thanksgiving Service at Llandaff Cathedral, joining local communities in reflection and remembrance.
  • The commemorations will continue Thursday morning when he attends the UK national VE Day service at Westminster Abbey in London, a solemn occasion to honour the sacrifices made during World War II.
  • Later that morning, Mr. Millar will be sponsoring a VE Day commemoration event in the Senedd, highlighting the enduring importance of this historic day and the gratitude owed to veterans and their families.

Commenting on the events, Darren Millar MS said:

“As we mark the 80th Anniversary of VE Day, it is an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices made by so many and to honour those who secured our freedoms.

“I am privileged to attend these significant events and to join others in paying tribute to the courage and resilience of the wartime generation.

“This anniversary serves as a reminder of the importance of defending those freedoms and supporting the veterans who gave so much for our nation.”
