Following the UK Conservatives’ announcement of a Cheap Power Plan to cut energy bills by £200, the Welsh Conservatives have criticised the Welsh Labour Government’s latest support package as too limited, warning that it fails to assist many struggling households.
Commenting, Welsh Conservative Shadow Cabinet Secretary for the Economy and Energy, Samuel Kurtz MS, said:
“This one-off payment will offer only limited relief to families already under pressure and does nothing for many hard-working households in the ‘squeezed middle’ who are struggling but do not qualify for support.
“The Welsh Labour Government is overlooking hard-working families who are feeling the impact of rising off-grid heating costs.
“By contrast, the UK Conservatives have set out a clear plan to cut energy bills by £200, delivering broader and more lasting support for households.”
