Commenting on the news today (May 19) that Wales will receive an additional £64.5 million for transport in Wales, as a result of the UK Government’s allocation to Transport for London, Russell George MS – the Shadow Transport Minister – said:
“People are to travel only when necessary, and many people here in Wales are furloughed, or working from home, and so as a consequence, the strain on transport here has been reduced. However, many people continue to rely on public transport to commute to their work.
“And so, while I and my Welsh Conservative colleagues of course welcome this additional funding, it is with the usual caveat of questioning how the Welsh Government will allocate it before we scrutinise these decisions."
