Russell George MS, the Shadow Minister for Economy, has demanded that the Welsh Labour Government reverse changes it unilaterally made to the Non-domestic rates package.
The support package provides eligible businesses with funding to help cover costs to March 31st but, according to another website, the date has now been shifted to the end of April.
He said:
“We’ve had 22 years of broken promises from Labour in Wales, and this is yet another to add to an increasingly long list.
“The level of uncertainty that Welsh Labour are creating by providing two different dates is scandalous and it needs rectifying quickly.
“On the face of it, it appears that Welsh Labour Ministers are backtracking and have now shifted the original date to the end of next month. This is completely unacceptable because the financial package for businesses’ costs—originally until March 31st—will not be enough to cover a longer period of time and puts Welsh jobs and businesses at risk.
“I have now written to the Minister for Economy, Ken Skates, calling on him to provide urgent clarity.
“This latest Welsh Labour blunder emphasises the need to back the Welsh Conservatives and our economic recovery plan on 6th May.”
