Serious questions need addressing to reassure the people of Wales – Shadow Minister

Angela Burns MS

Commenting on the report that cases of Covid-19 have only just been added to official Public Health Wales (PHW) figures, the Shadow Minister for Health, Angela Burns MS, said:

“This revelation is extraordinary and is the latest blunder in a very long list committed by the Welsh Labour-run Government during this pandemic.

“Serious questions need to be asked as to why the results of more than 70,000 tests – which have now shown 1,049 COVID-19 cases - from non-NHS laboratories were shown separately from the daily headline figures and have only now been added to the cumulative total of cases.

“Quite simply, this is not good enough. This worrying admission means the people of Wales have not had a full and clear picture of how this disease has been spreading.

“To reassure the people of Wales and to regain their confidence the Welsh Labour-run Government needs to provide answers to these questions as a matter of urgency.”
