Laura Anne Jones

Responding to the increase in homeschooled children in Wales, Laura Anne Jones MS, Shadow Education Minister, said:

“Welsh Conservatives oppose Labour’s undue restrictions on home educators, because parents know far better than the state when it comes to doing what’s best for their children. Parental choice should be respected.

“While some guidance and safeguarding for home education is necessary to ensure that children do not fall behind in their studies, parents and guardians across Wales often see the benefits of the practice. They should not be impeded from making the positive decision to home educate.

“We know that the Labour Education Minister has a track record of ignoring parents and pupils, he should be getting on with his job and not be distracted by his current leadership campaign.”
