Cladding issues across Wales have left families trapped in unsellable flats, causing significant financial and emotional strain for affected residents. Local Welsh Conservative Senedd members are urging the Labour Welsh Government to take decisive action to address this crisis, ensuring homeowners in unsafe buildings across Wales receive the support and solutions they desperately need.

Commenting, Welsh Conservative Member of the Senedd for South Wales Central, Andrew RT Davies MS, said:

“The Labour Government need to act urgently, their repeated inaction continues to leave residents feeling trapped in potentially unsafe buildings.

“Cladding issues are causing immense disruption to lives across Wales, with families facing severe financial and emotional strain while Labour fails to address these pressing concerns.

“The Welsh Labour Government must do more to ensure developers make their buildings safe, to give peace of mind to residents frightened that they will be woken up by a fire alarm rather than an alarm clock.”

Also Commenting, Welsh Conservative Member of the Senedd for South Wales Central, Joel James MS, said:

“Labour cannot claim they are committed to building safety when flat owners across Wales are living in fear due to Labour’s inaction on cladding.

“People feel trapped in homes they cannot sell, facing financial and emotional strain.

“Labour must do more to speed up remediation works to alleviate this crisis and provide affected homeowners with the safety and peace of mind they deserve.”
