Welsh Conservatives have criticised Plaid Cymru and Leanne Wood for giving the Labour Government a ‘free pass’ on last night’s budget vote.
In the Autumn, Wood and Plaid Cymru struck a deal with Carwyn Jones to allow his government’s budgets to pass for the next two years. On Monday, Wood attempted to ‘relaunch’ her leadership by criticising Welsh Labour’s record – a record that Plaid Cymru allowed to go unpunished by providing no opposition yesterday.
Commenting, Welsh Conservative Finance Spokesman, Nick Ramsay AM, said:
“After nearly two decades in power and numerous budgets, the Welsh Labour Government has consistently failed to deliver increased prosperity for hardworking people and their families, and there’s little reason to believe that this budget will be any different.
“It’s clear that the Labour Party is the problem in Wales and by giving them a ‘free pass’ on the budget, Leanne Wood is failing to back up her rhetoric from earlier in the week and lets down the thousands of people who voted for Plaid Cymru at the last Assembly election.
“Welsh Conservatives want change in Wales and the best way to do that is by removing those who have held our country back – Carwyn Jones and his Labour Government.”
