James Evans

Reflecting on his Topical Question on the £19 million tax bill facing NRW, wherein Deputy First Minister Huw Irranca-Davies called the £19 million loan to bail out the organisation “A wise use of taxpayers’ money,” James Evans MS, Welsh Conservative Shadow Rural Affairs Minister, said:

“A £19million tax bill could be the tip of the iceberg, with the HMRC investigation into NRW still ongoing.

“For Labour’s Cabinet Secretary to call the £19m shelled out on NRW’s tax bill “a wise use of taxpayers’ money” is deeply concerning, even more so when you consider that the tax bill could increase as the HMRC investigation continues.

“Labour must come clean with the total anticipated figure and how much Welsh taxpayers will likely have to fork out to cover for NRW’s mess.”
