Mark Isherwood

Responding to the latest homelessness statistics in Wales that show an increase in individuals rough sleeping and an increase the use of temporary accommodation, Mark Isherwood MS, Welsh Conservative Shadow Housing Minister, said:

“Labour’s inability to tackle homelessness in Wales over the past 25 years underlines their failing strategy and restrictive policies that are damaging people’s lives.

“Beyond these statistics there is a very real human cost that cannot be ignored and with individuals rough sleeping up on last year and more people housed in temporary accommodation, I fear the Welsh Labour Government will open emergency accommodation sites, similar to the use of the former ‘Toys R Us’ building last year where living conditions were described as ‘inhumane’.

“It is evident that this situation is not getting better. the Welsh Government must adopt more effective and sustainable approaches to address homelessness and rough sleeping that ensure long-term stability and support for affected individuals and families.”
