Responding to comments made by Jo Stevens casting doubt over plans to electrify the North Wales mainline, Natasha Asghar MS, Welsh Conservative Shadow Transport Minister said:

“It’s abundantly clear that the much-needed North Wales mainline electrification is not a priority for Labour.

“Labour has failed to develop the transport infrastructure that Wales needs, despite wanting drivers to slow down to 20mph. Only the Welsh Conservatives will get Wales moving.”

Darren Millar MS, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for North Wales added:

“Labour’s excuses don’t wash, their lack of ambition for North Wales is obvious.

“The Conservatives’ decision to reprioritise funding from HS2 allowed for this significant investment. To cancel it would represent a political decision by Labour and a betrayal of communities across North Wales.”
