Laura Anne Jones

Responding to Labour Monmouthshire Council proposing to cut £835,000 from schools’ budgets, Laura Anne Jones MS, Shadow Minister for Education, said:

“These cuts come at the worst possible time.

“Learners are still working hard with their teachers to catch up after lockdown and, by cutting schools’ budgets, Monmouthshire Labour risks fostering a lost generation.

“The Council leadership must cancel these cuts and ensure our schools are properly funded.”

Peter Fox MS, Senedd Member for Monmouth, said:

“Education was always a priority in Monmouthshire under Conservative leadership. Our young people are our future and it’s so important that we give them the greatest opportunities. Clearly Labour in Monmouthshire don’t see it this way.”
