Today, we come together to remember the millions of people murdered in the Holocaust, as well as in other genocides from Bosnia and Darfur to Cambodia and Rwanda.
We should never let the torch of remembrance diminish, and it is our duty to learn from mistakes of the past and to ensure they are never repeated.
And it is important now more than ever to remember and educate given shocking research in 2019 revealed 1-in-20 adults in the UK believe the Holocaust during World War Two did not happen.
This has coincided with a deeply disturbing upsurge in antisemitism in recent years across the United Kingdom. This must stop, and we must continue to call it out wherever and whenever it is witnessed.
As memorial services are held across the country today, we will remember the innocent victims of the Holocaust and recommit to combat all forms of racism and prejudice.
