The Welsh Conservatives have reiterated their commitment to help working families across Wales by calling on the Welsh Labour Government to match the childcare offer available in England.

Due to Labour’s ongoing failure to expand childcare support, the soaring cost of childcare in Wales is putting it beyond the reach of many families, with some now limiting the number of children they have because of affordability concerns.

Commenting, Welsh Conservative Shadow Cabinet Secretary, Natasha Asghar MS said:

“The childcare system in Wales is broken and as a result parents who want to return to work are finding it increasingly difficult under Labour.

“It is a scandal that parents in Wales are paying thousands more than elsewhere in the UK due to a lack of support from the Labour Welsh Government.

“The Welsh Conservatives have committed to levelling the playing field to support hardworking parents with their childcare costs by providing the same childcare offer available in England.”
