Labour’s NI rise will hit Welsh public service delivery and businesses

Peter Fox

Commenting following his exchange with the Labour Welsh Government’s Cabinet Secretary for Finance today in the Senedd, Peter Fox MS, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Finance and Local Government said:

“It is the duty of the Labour Welsh Government to soften the harmful blows inflicted on Wales by Keir Starmer’s policies.

“Public services often rely heavily on private providers, particularly in the care sector, to function effectively. But following Labour’s UK Autumn Budget, national insurance rises will hit their costs and ability to invest in delivery.

“It is a disappointment that Labour ministers have not opposed this jobs tax to the detriment of not only our public services, but hard-pressed Welsh businesses that also have to contend with significantly higher business rates than those in England.”
