Labour’s must take responsibility for strikes, say Welsh Conservatives

Laura Anne Jones

Commenting on the news that Wales’ schools may close on strike days, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Education, Laura Anne Jones MS said:

“The Labour Government has consistently complained about the lack of funds but has wasted hundreds of millions of pounds on vanity projects, such as £100 million on more politicians in the Senedd.

“These strikes in Wales and the disruption that pupils face are a direct result of Labour’s mismanagement, a fact that Labour ministers simply refuse to acknowledge. Let’s not forget that, under Labour, Welsh pupils have been short-changed by £1,000 compared to their counterparts in England.

“Labour ministers have the power to address issues facing teachers in Wales but simply choose not to, looking instead to blame anyone but themselves.”
