Labour’s failure to tackle the housing crisis has led to a shocking level of homelessness in Wales, with 6,495 households in temporary accommodation, the highest figure since the introduction of the Housing (Wales) Act in 2015. Families and children are bearing the brunt of this crisis, while the Welsh Labour Government continues to fall short on delivering solutions.

Commenting, Laura Anne Jones MS, Welsh Conservative Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Housing & Local Government, said:

“These figures highlight the stark reality of the housing crisis in Wales after 26 years of a Labour Government, with the highest number of households in temporary accommodation since 2015.

“It’s clear that the Welsh Government has failed to deliver long-term solutions to tackle homelessness and provide safe, sustainable housing for those most in need.

“It is clear that this situation is not getting better. the Welsh Government must adopt more effective and sustainable approaches to ensure no family is forced to live in unsuitable temporary accommodation, and that every household has access to long-term stable, secure and affordable housing.”
