Following Spokesperson's Questions to Labour's Cabinet Secretary for Local Government & Housing, Welsh Conservative Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Local Government & Housing, Laura Anne Jones MS, has highlighted the inflated salaries of Council Chief Executives in Wales, some of whom are earning more than G7 leaders.
Commenting after her Spokesperson's Questions, Welsh Conservative Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Local Government & Housing, Laura Anne Jones MS, said:
"Under Labour's watch, we have seen council tax bills soar while council chief executives pocket salaries that outstrip those of G7 leaders.
"The amount of money some council workers take home is in stark contrast with the average take home pay for people living in these areas.
"People will rightly question why they are paying ever increasing council tax bills to fund fat cat salaries, only to see leisure centres, libraries and vital services closing, this injustice needs to be addressed to ensure council taxpayers money is directed towards protecting essential public services and not lining the pockets of the highest paid."
