Labour refuse to accept responsibility for teacher redundancies in Wales

Responding to a Written Question answer on schools making the difficult decision to make teaching staff redundant due to Labour’s budget cuts, Tom Giffard MS, Shadow Education Minister, said:

“After cutting the education budget in real terms and cash terms, Labour cannot wash their hands of responsibility when the consequences of their actions begin to surface.

“Labour cannot cut the budget and then blame local authorities for teacher redundancies. This crisis is one made of Labour’s atrocious record over 25 years of running Wales.

“The Welsh Conservatives would appropriately fund education, recruit more teachers, prioritise children’s education and save Labour’s lost generation.”
