Labour must restore our rivers to reduce flooding

Reflecting on the statement from the Climate Change Minister, Janet Finch-Saunders MS, Welsh Conservative Shadow Climate Change Minister, said: 

“Flood risks in Wales remain a serious concern, with over 245,000 properties at risk.

“There must be urgent action from the Labour Government to expand natural flood management projects, such as restoring rivers to their natural meanders. The success of the Upper Conwy Catchment project, which has reconnected rivers with floodplains to reduce downstream flooding highlights that this approach can help reduce flood risks and restore vital ecosystems. 

“The Welsh Conservatives would establish a National Flood Agency and work with local communities to co-ordinate flood risk management so families can sleep soundly in their homes.”
