Labour must build more homes in Wales

Mark Isherwood

Responding to the news that new rules begin on second homes and holiday lets in Cyngor Gwynedd, Mark Isherwood MS, Welsh Conservative Shadow Housing Minister, said:

“Fundamentally, what is at the heart of the debate is frustration that locals are struggling to obtain affordable homes, especially in communities where demand for second homes is high.

“Having ignored warnings and proposed solutions over more than two decades, the Labour Welsh Government continuously miss their house building targets. Their policies are reducing affordable housing supply and their focus on tourism and second homes is deflecting from the wider need to deliver more housing.

“The Welsh Conservatives’ plans would ensure more homes, both market and affordable, are built and empty homes are brought back into use.”
