Commenting on his exchange with the Labour Deputy Minister, Dawn Bowden in the Senedd today, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Culture, Tourism and Sport, Tom Giffard MS said:

“There are a lot of unanswered questions following my spokesperson’s questions today regarding the Deputy Minister’s dealings with the Welsh Rugby Union. Any reasonable person can see that Dawn Bowden’s story doesn’t add up.

“The Deputy Minister could have been clearer sooner that she was aware of issues in the WRU and could have called publicly or privately for the review into the women’s game to be published. On all counts, it’s clear that she didn’t.

“There is a serious concern that the Labour Government had too cosy a relationship with the WRU, to the extent that this led to inaction and a lack of transparency at the cost of women who had to suffer through this.”
