Labour incapable of tackling soaring absenteeism in Wales

Responding to the statement from Labour’s Education Minister, Tom Giffard MS, Welsh Conservative Shadow Education Minister, said: 

“Labour have failed to get a grip on the soaring absenteeism occurring under their watch.

“Education under Labour in Wales over the past 25 years is a story of failure, in addition to rising absenteeism Labour have presided over, a shocking decline in education standards, illiterate pupils in our schools and the worst PISA results in the UK.

“The Labour Government’s approach of ideology over evidence is failing our children and leaving pupils with a significant disadvantage to their peers in the rest of the UK.”
