Commenting following his spokesperson’s questions in the Senedd to the Labour Health Minister today, Welsh Conservative Shadow Health Minister, Russell George MS said:
“Today I asked for some much needed clarity from the Labour Health Minister as to when she would commit to eliminating 2-year waits for NHS treatment in Wales, given that her original target was to do this in March and the fact that 2-year waits have been virtually eliminated elsewhere in the UK.
“I was astonished to hear from the Labour Health Minister that she doesn’t expect inhuman 2-year waits in our Welsh NHS to be eliminated until the end of the financial year, April 2024, meaning that she will have missed her target by over a year. Shockingly, this wasn’t even a hard commitment, simply an expectation.
“This is completely unacceptable for patients who are having to wait years for cancer treatment, surgeries, pain management interventions and so I agree with Eluned Morgan’s closing remarks, that ‘enough is enough’.”
