Responding to his spokesperson contribution today in the Senedd, Samuel Kurtz MS, Shadow Rural Affairs Minister, said:

“I find the Minister’s announcements yesterday incredibly cynical on the day before the huge protest outside the Senedd in Cardiff Bay.

“The statement made by the First Minister and Minister were repackaged from announcements made two years ago. It’s sad that it seems to take the largest protest the Senedd has ever seen for the Labour Government to actually get things done within the agriculture sector that the promised years ago.

“The Welsh Conservatives have raised a motion in the Senedd today to end the Sustainable Farming Scheme, if the Minister were really listening to farmers in Wales, she would vote with us this evening.”
