Healthy life expectancy in Wales has dropped markedly over the past decade, with women now experiencing a 3.7-year drop, the steepest decline in the UK, highlighting growing health challenges across Wales.
After 27 years of Labour, backed by Plaid Cymru, outcomes have worsened, with too many people spending longer in ill health.
Commenting, Welsh Conservative Spokesperson for Health and Social Care, Peter Fox said:
“These figures are deeply concerning and highlight the consequences of 27 years of Labour, propped up by Plaid Cymru, mismanaging the NHS and public health in Wales.
“Falling life expectancy, shows that too many people are not getting the care and support they need to live longer, healthier lives.
“The Welsh Conservatives will declare a health emergency, strengthen primary care, prevention and early diagnosis and deliver a workforce plan to ensure patients can access timely, high-quality care.”
