During spokesperson’s questions to Labour’s Cabinet Secretary for North Wales, the Welsh Conservatives have called out the Welsh Labour Government for its continued neglect of North Wales, highlighting significant disparities in funding between the North and South of the country. With communities in the North receiving only a fraction of the resources allocated to the South, the party is urging the government to address this persistent imbalance and ensure equitable investment across the nation.
Commenting, following his spokesperson’s questions, Welsh Conservative Shadow Cabinet Secretary for North Wales, Gareth Davies MS, said:
“The disparity in investment between North and South Wales is plain to see, and there’s little evidence that the Welsh Government is addressing it.
“Across the board, North Wales continues to be starved of resources while the South sees disproportionately high levels of funding. The South Wales Metro has received £1 billion, while the North Wales Metro project has been allocated just £13 million. This glaring inequity underscores a persistent failure to deliver for North Wales.
“It’s high time the Welsh Government recognised the unique needs of North Wales and ensured resources are allocated accordingly. North Wales deserves the infrastructure to thrive, not to be left behind.”
