At First Minister’s Questions (FMQs) today, The Leader of the Welsh Conservatives challenged the First Minister to address the Chancellor’s manifesto-breaking, tax-raising, welfare-bloating budget and her failure to stand up for the people of Wales.
Darren Millar MS called for Rachel Reeves to resign for misleading the public on the nation’s finances and breaking Labour’s pledge not to raise taxes on working people.
Commenting, Leader of the Welsh Conservatives, Darren Millar MS said:
“Rachel Reeves lied to the public – she should resign.
“Labour promised not to raise taxes on working people. They broke their promise in last year’s budget and did so again this year, attempting to excuse this by misleading the people on the state of the public finances. The reality was a tax-raising budget to pay for more welfare.
“If the Chancellor doesn’t have the decency to resign, the Prime Minister should sack her. Hers was a budget for Benefits Street and a nightmare before Christmas for workers, pensioners, employers, savers and motorists.
“Only the Conservatives have a plan to cut taxes, cut spending, and get Wales working.”
