Three male members of the Football Association of Wales (FAW) have been suspended in the past 10 months after allegations of inappropriate behaviour.
Welsh Conservative Shadow Sports Minister, Tom Giffard MS, submitted a Topical Question to the Senedd today, which was rejected along with a flurry of other vital questions. Commenting, Tom Giffard MS said:
“The Labour Deputy Sports Minister has shirked responsibility for the ever-growing list of scandals plaguing sports bodies in Wales from the FAW to the WRU, for too long. Given that these bodies are often in receipt of government funds, she has a number of formal and informal measures she can use.
“The Minister likes to virtue signal by promoting anti-racism and anti-sexism projects through Sports Wales, yet when clear examples of issues within sports are exposed, she repeatedly distances herself.
“The Labour Government needs to call an urgent summit to discuss these pressing matters with all of the National Governing Bodies in Wales.”
