Responding to the publication of the Preparing for Devolution of Policing in Wales report, Welsh Conservative Shadow Counsel General, Mark Isherwood MS said:
“Once again, the key missing ingredient in the Welsh Government’s hunger for these additional powers is the operational, cross-border reality of crime, police and justice in Wales.”
Darren Millar MS, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for the Constitution added:
“This is yet another attempt at a power grab by the Welsh Labour Government.
“Policing in England and Wales is already devolved to Police and Crime Commissioners for each police force area.
“Centralising policing decisions in Wales is unnecessary and would undermine the necessary focus on cross-border policing arrangements between forces in North and Mid Wales.”
