As the Senedd election campaign draws to a close, Welsh Conservative Leader Darren Millar has urged voters to back the Welsh Conservative’s credible plan to cut taxes, cut waste, fire up the economy and get Wales working.
After 27 years of Labour, propped up by Plaid Cymru, the Welsh economy continues to lag behind the rest of the UK, public services are under extreme pressure and families face ongoing cost of living challenges.
The Welsh Conservatives are offering a clear alternative: a fully costed plan to deliver lower taxes, more efficient public services and a stronger economy.
A Welsh Conservative Government will:
- Cut the basic rate of income tax by 1p, saving the average working family £450 a year.
- Scrap Land Transaction Tax (Stamp Duty) on primary residences.
- Declare a health emergency, surging bed numbers and tackling 2 year waits.
- Restore discipline and academic rigour to our schools.
- Deliver major projects like the M4 relief road.
- Cap council tax increases at 5%, with referendums required for higher rises.
- Scrap business rates for small firms, pubs and post offices.
- Scrap Labour and Plaid Cymru’s proposed Tourism Tax.
- Extend free childcare to children aged 9 months to 4 years old and give working parents a choice to nominate a grandparent to receive a Grandparent Childcare Payment of up to £4,800 per year to care for their grandchildren.
Commenting, Leader of the Welsh Conservatives, Darren Millar, said:
“This election comes down to a simple choice: more of the same from Labour and Plaid Cymru, a risk with Reform or the Greens, or credible change with the Welsh Conservatives.
“After 27 years, Wales is being held back. Taxes are too high, our economy is underperforming, public services are struggling, and too many families are feeling the strain of the cost of living.
“We are offering detailed plan to cut taxes, end waste, and deliver better value for taxpayers, so people can keep more of what they earn.
“We will declare a health emergency to fix our NHS, drive up standards in our schools, back businesses to create jobs and fire up the economy to get Wales working.
"Vote Welsh Conservative to fix Wales."
