David Melding AM – the Shadow Minister for Tourism – has warned against travel to second homes or holiday cottages over the Easter weekend.
Weather is forecast to be good over the long weekend, and this is raising concerns that some people may ignore the advice to “Stay home, protect the NHS, and save lives”.
Mr Melding said:
“I cannot stress strongly enough how imperative it is that we follow the sound advice we have all been given to make no journeys unless absolutely necessary, and certainly not to travel to a second home or a holiday cottage.
“Travelling could mean helping to spread Coronavirus, and if you fall ill away from your usual residence, then you will put additional pressure on those local health services.
“We have all had sufficient time to become accustomed to the lockdown, and I am sure no-one wants to see still more severe restrictions put in place, which could happen.
“It is hard, especially when such good weather is generally forecast for the weekend, but the more we keep to these rules, then the sooner they should be lifted, and life can get back to some normality.”
